ABOUT THE FISH COLLECTIVE

We are dedicated to the care and cultivation of fish, striving to make fish keeping an enjoyable and stress-free experience.

Our commitment is to support you by providing healthy fish and plants. We value the scientific research behind breeding practices and carefully replicate optimal conditions for each breeding pair, including water hardness, temperature, and appropriate egg-laying substrates. In most cases, we remove the eggs from the breeding pair to provide specialized care and maximize their survival rates, from wrigglers to fry to juvenile fish.

We still get excited every time a breeding pair lay their eggs and those eggs become wrigglers.

OUR BREEDING PRACTICES

Once we have noticed that two fish have paired off. We prepare the tank and watch for their usual spawning activities. Some fish lay their eggs on flat surfaces like the glass of the tank, others like a flat surface to be flat on the bottom and some prefer to lay of large leaves or even hidden amongst the roots and foliage of plants.

After we are sure that the males have fertilised the eggs, we will carefully remove the eggs and place them in a fry tank.

Once wrigglers appear we can begin with feeding and maintaining the tanks. We keep the fry tanks in the same tank as the adults so as not to change the water conditions.

SOME OF OUR BREEDING FISH

We are very proud of our business and we love watching the eggs hatch to wrigglers, the wrigglers become little fry and then grow to juvenile fish.
